A Customer Passed Parameter (CPP) is a data point created by, or currently available in, the client's app that is captured by ForeSee code and sent with a survey submission. CPPs provide additional data for analysis without increasing the number of questions asked on the survey.

Many ForeSee clients opt to provide their app version as a CPP, which helps greatly when it comes to analyzing changes in customer satisfaction between app upgrades.

(No longer required as of SDK version 4.3.0)

Using CPPs

Clients can define CPPs in two ways:

  1. In foresee_configuration.json: There is a cppParameters key in the JSON file that is a collection of key-value pairs.
  2. In code via the SDK: You can use the ForeSee.addCppValue("key", "value"), ForeSee.setCPPValueFromArray("key", "valuesArray") or ForeSee.appendCPPValue("key", "value") methods to dynamically add CPPs. This is useful when you want to add CPPs based on specific conditions.

Default CPPs

By default, the SDK automatically captures and sends the following device-related CPPs with the survey:

  • model_name is the model name of the device, e.g., GT-S7560M.
  • brand_name is the brand name of the device, e.g., Samsung.
  • browser is the browser, e.g., Android WebKit.
  • os is the device operating system, e.g., Android 4.4.
  • os_version is the operating system version, e.g., 4.4.
  • is_tablet returns ‘True’ if the device is a tablet.
  • resolution_width is the screen width in pixels.
  • resolution_height is the screen height in pixels.
  • screen_width is the screen width in millimeters.
  • screen_height is the screen height in millimeters.
  • notification_type is the type of survey invitation.
